FILM SUNDAY
Sunday 8 June 2.30pm

Son of Rambo (12A)
A coming of age comedy set in the 1980s. Two young English boys watch the classic “Rambo: First Blood” and decide to make a Rambo movie of their own. Will is the eldest son in a family with a strict moral and ethical view; they are goody two shoes types. Raised in the Plymouth Brethren, ten year-old Will has never seen television, heard pop music, or seen a movie. His life changes when he falls under the influence of Carter, the school misfit, who runs a sideline in bizarre pirate videos, and is using his video camera to make a film of his own. When Will sees Rambo, his imagination takes flight. Son of Rambo is required viewing. The biggest British comedy of the year. The kids are ace and the film will prompt bogey-flicking chuckles. Packed with great 80s tunes and synchronized dancing scenes.

Sunday 8 June 7.30pm
Happy Go Lucky (15)
Mike Leigh returns to delight us yet again with another classic film that has a distinctly ‘British’ feel to it. The film based on improvisational drama comedy style starring Sally Hawkins as Poppy a happy-go-lucky, irrepressibly cheerful primary school teacher in contemporary North London who lives life to the full. Even when her bicycle, which she so happily rides through the busy streets of London is stolen, her first thought is only: ‘I didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye. She has great friends, a job she loves and a full life. The movie watches her confront the harsh realities of life and deal with them head-on, never losing her sense of humour.
