Members to Attend the Outdoors Show 2008
For 2008, the bike arena sees the return of the popular 7stanes mountain
biking display team from Scotland, the MB7 have-a-go zone and a whole
lot more. This year MB7 will be creating a 150 tonne dirt race track
with huge jumps and loads of obstacles guaranteed to provide thrills and
maybe the odd spill. The 7stanes team will be joined by the cream of
Scottish mountain biking talent in elbow-to-elbow racing around the
purpose-built track. In addition to this, the trials and dirt jump
display riders will wow you with their balance and nerve on the extreme
course.
Not only is the mountain biking display area bigger and better, but so is the have-a-go area. Back for another year is MB7's 'Timbertrail' - a series of narrow wooden platforms to pit your bike balancing skills against (suitable for all abilities from age 8+). In addition to this, Scotland's downhill mountain biking training specialists 'Dirtschool' will be running jump sessions on the race track and giving you the opportunity to fly! As if that wasn't enough, there will be bicycle trials skills sessions running for those looking to improve their advanced skills.
The Tweed Valley Tourist Consortia has a 8m x 3m stand with members manning the stand and handing material from TVTC businesses. If you want to see any more, go to www.theoutdoorsshow.co.uk.

Shining City
Drama
7:30pm
Rapture return with anther exciting show !!!. The Emerald Isle meets The Sixth Sense in this riveting and chilling urban ghost story from the multi-award winning author of The Weir, Dublin Carol and The Seafarer. After leaving the priesthood, Ian sets himself up as a therapist in Dublin. One of his first clients is John who, following the tragic death of his wife in a car accident, has repeatedly seen her ghostly figure. But surely it must be his imagination...!!!!! Through taut and witty Irish banter , hidden demons begin to surface as Ian starts to realise that his life parallels John’s in many ways, and that the “ghosts” of his past may yet come back to haunt him too. Described by The Daily Telegraph as ‘the finest dramatist of his generation’, Conor McPherson flawlessly brings classical Irish storytelling into a modern, urban landscape. This humorous, haunting and fascinating play will have you gripped right up to the shocking twist in the tale. Shining City has previously played to sell-out audiences in London, Dublin and on Broadway. Moving, compassionate, ingenious and absolutely gripping... scenes that provoke great, generous gales of laughter, others that send a shiver of fear down the spine’ The Daily Telegraph. I was blown away by Shining City. The New York Times. Rapture is excited about bringing the play exclusively to Scottish audiences for the first time with a crack Scottish cast...

So it's a good thing he planned ahead. Before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her, not only through her grief, but in rediscovering herself. The first message arrives on Holly's 30th birthday in the form of a cake, and to her utter shock, a tape recording from Gerry, who proceeds to tell her to get out and "celebrate herself". In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered in surprising ways, each sending her on a new adventure and each signing off in the same way; P.S. I Love You. Holly's mother and best friends begin to worry that Gerry's letters are keeping Holly tied to the past, but in fact, each letter is pushing her further into a new future. Fraser Fifield Band & Nedyalko Nedyalkov
Trad Music
7:30pm
Fraser Fifield Band & Nedyalko Nedyalkov. Scotland meets Bulgaria as top musicians from each country lead their respective bands on a tour that will also see extensive collaborations between all eight musicians involved. Fraser Fifield leads one of the most distinctive groups in Scotland today. Featuring Fifield on low whistle, soprano saxophone and bagpipes; Graeme Stephen (guitar) and percussionists David Robertson and Guy Nicholson, the group evolved from a trio that made a big impression in concert and at festivals including Celtic Connections, Big Big World, and Edinburgh, Islay and Baku jazz festivals. The trio also toured Spain and Denmark successfully and released the CD Slow Stream on Tanar Records to critical acclaim. Now expanded to a quartet, the group, presenting Fifield's own highly developed, melodic compositions as well as reworking music from the Scottish tradition and reflecting his long-standing interest in Bulgarian music, will release a new album featuring Nedyalko Nedyalkov and Georgi Petrov to coincide with the tour. An experienced musician whose resume includes concerts and albums with Salsa Celtica, Old Blind Dogs, Mick West Band, The Unusual Suspects, Mr McFalls Chamber and Donnie Munro, Fifield released his debut album, Honest Water, in 2002. This showcased a talent combining his roots as an award-winning young piper with his status as one of the most adventurous composers and improvisers working within the Scottish tradition. Nedyalko Nedyalkov on kaval, the expressive end-blown flute, Georgi Petrov on the bowed-string gadulka, Angel Dimitrov on the lute-like tambura and Stoimenka Nedyalkov on vocals, make up the Nedyalko Nedyalkov Quartet - Four of the most talented and respected musicians in Bulgaria today. Born into a family with a long musical tradition, Nedyalkov began playing music at the age of seven and progressed through Bulgaria's most prestigious music conservatories to become soloist with the Folk Orchestra of Bulgarian National Radio. He has toured internationally with the choir Angelite, Bulgarian-Norwegian collective Farmer's Market, and with the group of Bulgarian master musicians Grupa Maistori. This will be the first opportunity to see and hear him perform in Scotland.
